Rosebud Sioux Tribe plans casino renovation with Shakopee loan

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is planning to spend $5.8 million to remodel its casino.

The tribe will redo the gaming floor, kitchen, bar, restaurant area and exterior entrance at the Rosebud Casino, Hotel, and Fuel Plaza. Plans also call for a new surveillance system and new slot machines.

Construction is expected to start in June and the work would be finished by August. The casino will remain in operation during the remodeling.

Money for the project comes from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota. The Shakopees have loaned the tribe about $10 million total for the casino upgrade and other projects.
