Spokane Tribe refutes claims about off-reservation casino

The Spokane Tribe off-reservation casino won't affect an Air Force base, Chairman Greg Abrahamson said.

The tribe met with Air Force and Pentagon officials to discuss the project, Abrahamson said. He was assured that there will be no negative impacts.

“We have committed to working with the base commander in whatever way we can,” Abrahamson told The Spokesman Review. “We will work with the Air Force and intend to stay in close contact and communicate, so that we don’t have problems.”

The Bureau of Indian Affairs released a draft environmental impact statement on the casino. Comments are being accepted until April 16. A public hearing will be held March 23.
