The Mooretown Rancheria says it can open an off-reservation casino without the approval of California Gov. Jerry Brown (D)

The tribe says its Class III gaming compact authorizes two facilities. One is Feather Falls Casino in Oroville.

Chairman Gary Archuleta also says the tribe can open a casino at another site in West Sacramento, more than 60 miles away. He threatened the new facility if Brown approves an off-reservation casino for the Enterprise Rancheria.

"We have again arrived at the place where the government is pulling the rug out from under us," Chairman Gary Archuleta said in a press release, The Marysville/Yuba City Appeal-Democrat reported.

The tribe opened Feather Falls under a provision in the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act that did not require the governor's approval.
