Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe still pushing for an urban casino

The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is still interested in an off-reservation casino in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The tribe brought up the idea in 2010 when a casino just across the border in Iowa was authorized. The plan didn't get very far but the offer to share revenues from the facility is still on the table.

“The tribe feels that it would be great to have the support with the city and the tribe together to approach the governor’s office to conduct the feasibility to do the project,” President Tony Reider told KELO-TV.

The tribe said revenues from the casino could generate $9 million a year for Sioux Falls and another $9 million for the state.
