Mohegan man returns home to reservation to run tribe's casino

After seven years in Pennsylvania, Bobby Soper is returning to Connecticut to run his tribe's gaming facility.

On Friday, Soper, a member of the Mohegan Tribe, takes over as CEO of Mohegan Sun. That's where he started his gaming career back in 1997, not long after the facility opened.

After rising through the ranks on the reservation, Soper was sent to Pennsylvania in 2004 to run Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, the tribe's commercial operation. He's helped the facility grow from slot machines to table games and is leaving as it undergoes a big expansion project that includes a $50 million hotel.
