Group goes ahead with ceremony at Poarch Creek casino site

A group of tribal activists will go ahead with a ceremony at the casino site of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians in Alabama.

Save Hickory Ground consists of members of the Poarch Band and the Muscogee Nation. They oppose the $246 expansion of the Wind Creek Wetumpka at the site of a sacred and historic burial ground.

"We're going to pray there, even if it's outside of the gates," Wayland Gray, who is Muscogee Creek, told The Wetumpka Herald after the Poarch Band said it wouldn't grant access to the site.
