Twenty-Nine Palms Band hosts public meeting for new casino

The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians in California held a public meeting last week to discuss plans for its new casino.

The February 7 meeting was well attended, The Desert Trail reported, but few people spoke. A handful, however, did raise concerns about living so close to the Tortoise Rock Casino.

The tribe expects to break ground on the facility by the end of March. It could be open by November.
