Gaming regulators want information from Mashantucket Tribe
Thursday, February 21, 2013
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut wants to open a casino in Massachusetts and gaming regulators are eager to hear more about the plan.
The tribe is partnering with a developer to bid on a casino in the eastern part of the state.
But the Massachusetts Gaming
Commission hasn't received any information so far.
“We do not yet have any official documentation from [the tribe],” a spokesperson for the commission told The Revere Journal. “They will need to have a discussion soon with MGC investigators to determine their qualifiers and then they will need to submit their applications.”
Two other non-Indian gaming companies are also bidding for the eastern Massachusetts license. The commission has promised to make a decision in early 2014.
