The Wilton Rancheria of California, a recently recognized tribe, is looking to join the Indian gaming industry.

The tribe is submitting a land-into-trust application for 160 acres near the city of Galt. Plans call for a casino and potentially a housing and education development, The Lodi News reported.

The tribe has enlisted a developer, a source told the paper. Details will be presented tomorrow night at a city council meeting in Galt.

The tribe was restored to federal recognition in 2009. Presumably, the tribe would be eligible for an exception in Section 20 of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act that applies to newly recognized tribes.
