The Yurok Tribe of California will be investing nearly $10 million in its first casino but one member doesn't think it's a good idea.
James Dunlap started a petition to prevent the tribe from using a portion of a trust fund settlement for the casino.
He doesn't think there are enough people in the area to support the development.
“There was one over on the Resighini Rancheria about a mile away,” Dunlap told The Two Rivers Tribune. “It went bankrupt, got funding to bail it out, then got flooded and repaired, and then went bankrupt again.”
The tribe, however, believes the facility will generate at least $3.7 million a year.
