The Seneca Nation is exploring plans for another off-reservation casino in New York.

The tribe announced a development agreement to "coordinate gaming and hospitality development" in the town of Henrietta, according to a press release. The town is near Rochester, the third most populous city in the state.

The tribe operates two off-reservation casinos -- one in Buffalo and another in Niagara Falls. Those were authorized by state law and the tribe's Class III gaming compact.

It's not clear how the tribe will secure approval for another off-reservation facility, but it's likely that the compact will need to be amended. The tribe recently resolved a gaming dispute with Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) but the deal did not include a new casino.

The Buffalo and Niagara Falls casinos are located on land that was acquired in connection with a land claim settlement. The tribe did not say how it will be acquiring new potential gaming sites.
