The Delaware Tribe of Oklahoma has a development agreement for a casino in Kansas, The Lawrence Journal-World reports.

The agreement doesn't say where the casino would be built. But leaders in Lawrence are confident the tribe won't be using a newly acquired 87-acre site near the city.

"We certainly were left with the impression that their thoughts on Lawrence being a site for a casino were pretty much dashed at this point," Douglas County Commissioner Nancy Thellman told the paper.

The tribe plans to submit a land-into-trust application to the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Chief Paula Pechonick said it won't be for gaming purposes.
