The Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians in Oregon are considering a Class II facility.

The tribe operates the Three Rivers Casino and Hotel, a Class III facility, in Florence. The Class II facility would be in Coos Bay, about 50 miles south.

“We’re considering proposals and are in the decision-making process,” Chairman Bob Garcia told The Coos Bay World, referring to a mailer sent to tribal members about the potential casino.

Some tribes in Oregon explicitly agreed not to open a second casino under their Class III compacts. The restriction would not apply to a Class II facility.
