Ute Tribe refused meeting for Colorado off-reservation casino

The Ute Tribe of Utah says Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) refused to discuss plans for an off-reservation casino.

The tribe wanted to present new information to the governor last month. “He refused to meet,” Thomas Fredericks, an attorney for the tribe, told Indian Country Today.

The tribe is interested in a casino near Dinosaur, in the northwestern part of Colorado. The tribe already has trust land in the area.

Hickenlooper, however, has said he won't agree to off-reservation gaming proposals.
