Pokagon Band finally comes 'home' with third gaming facility

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians of Michigan opened its third gaming facility to the public on Tuesday and this one bears special significance.

The 27,000 square-foot Four Winds Dowagiac is the smallest in the tribe's enterprise. But it's the only one in Dowagiac, the tribe's headquarters.

"Folks, this is home. Dowagiac is home,” Chairman Matt Wesaw told members of the media, The Harbor Country News reported.

The tribe now operates casinos in three adjacent counties in southwest Michigan, the paper noted. The largest, and oldest, is the casino in New Buffalo, followed by the one in Hartford.
