The Tohono O'odham Nation of Arizona blasted Rep. Ed Pastor (D-Arizona) for claiming that the tribe wants to open a casino 300 miles from the reservation. The tribe wants to build the West Valley Resort on land near Glendale. The site is only about 75 miles from the reservation border and about 60 miles from a tribal community that was flooded by the federal government. “Given his long tenure, Congressman Pastor certainly understands that the nation’s lands lost to flooding are near Gila Bend in Maricopa County, and not 300 miles away,” Chairman Ned Norris told The Daily News-Sun.
