The Tohono O'odham Nation will finally get to talk with the city of Glendale, Arizona, over its plans for an off-reservation casino. The tribe announced the West Valley Resort in January 2009. The city quickly voted to oppose the project, spawning a series of lawsuits in state and federal court that have gone in favor of the tribe. The city hasn't changed its official stance against the casino. But council members voted to open discussions with the tribe. “We have been knocking on that door for some time,” Chairman Ned Norris Jr. told The Arizona Republic.
