Delaware Tribe wants to keep options open for casino in Kansas

The Delaware Tribe of Oklahoma is keeping its options open for a casino in Kansas, The Lawrence Journal-World reports.

The tribe doesn't plan on putting a casino on a newly acquired 87-acre property in Kansas. But the tribe is interested in pursuing its options in the area, the paper said.

“The telling thing for me was that they are not taking the casino option off the table,” Lawrence city commissioner Jeremy Farmer, who attended a meeting with tribal leaders in Oklahoma, told the paper. “That doesn’t mean sound the alarm, but I think the public needs to know they said that.”

The tribe plans to submit a land-into-trust application to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
