The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut saw strong support at the polls for its commercial casino in Massachusetts.

The $1.3 billion Mohegan Sun Massachusetts won 63 percent of the vote in Revere on Tuesday. More than 10,000 people turned out to express their views on the project.

"People in Revere really have spoken here. They really let their voice be heard," Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority CEO Mitchell Etess told The Hartford Courant.

The tribe is now one of two bidders for the commercial casino license in eastern Massachusetts. The other is Wynn Resorts, whose billionaire owner Steve Wynn has questioned the tribe's motives.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will make the final decision on the license.
