The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde in Oregon are planning to remove 80 people from the rolls, a dispute that's being linked to a dwindling casino per capita payment.

The tribe operates the most profitable casino in the state, according to the Associated Press. Membership grew from 3,400 to more than 5,000 following the opening of the facility.

Since then, the per cap has declined from about $5,000 to just over $3,000, the AP said. Removing people from the rolls could limit future decreases.

"In my entire life, I have always known I was an Indian. I have always known my family's history, and I am so proud of that," Mia Prickett, who is one of those being removed, told the AP.

A tribal spokesperson said the audit of enrollment records was requested by members.
