The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut plans to lay off 125 casino employees, a union that represents table game dealers said.

Local 212 of the United Auto Workers announced the layoffs on Facebook. The union said 120 full-time dealers and five assistant floor supervisors will be cut.

"Although there are promising signs of better times to come, unfortunately, the economic rebound has not lifted the gaming industry in Southeastern Connecticut to its pre-recession levels," the union said.

The tribe cited "increased competition, a historically difficult economic environment, and the overall suppressed gaming market" in making the decision to eliminate jobs at the Foxwoods Resort Casino, The New London Day reported.
