The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe has entered the final stage of the review process for its casino in Massachusetts.

The comment period on the draft environmental impact statement for the $500 million First Light Resort and Casino has closed. Now the Bureau of Indian Affairs can prepare a final report.

"With the comment period for federal and state reviews now over, we are pleased to start the final phase of the environmental impact review process," Chairman Cedric Cromwell said in a press release today. "The BIA and the tribe are now examining all public comment and preparing the final environmental impact reports, which will be available for public review and comment soon."

There is no timeline for the final report. But once it's published, the tribe will be closer to approval of its land-into-trust application for the casino site.
