A former professional baseball player has filed a $9.9 million negligence claim against the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
The Class III gaming compact limits the tribe's liability to $200,000 per person and $300,000 per incident. Those are the same limits in state law.
But 76-year-old Brooks Robinson, a Hall of Famer who used to play for the Baltimore Orioles, wants the tribe to waive the cap. He says he suffered permanent injuries after he fell during a charity event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.
The tribe will negotiate with Robinson, a spokesperson said.
