The Seminole Tribe of Florida plans to spend $100 million this year upgrading its gaming properties.

A large portion will go towards upgrades to the gaming floor and hotel at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood. The facility is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

"Like they say, you can't trust white people but this time it really worked," Chairman James Billie said at a ceremony on Friday, Local 10 News reported.

Meanwhile, the tribe continues Class III gaming compact negotiations with Gov. Rick Scott (R). The tribe has contributed $1 billion to the state in five years under its existing agreement

"We realize this is a complex issue, and we will continue to work with the governor," Jim Allen, the CEO of Seminole Gaming, told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Allen said the tribe took in more than $2 billion at its seven gaming properties in the past year.
