Communities in northern California are expecting casino mitigation payments from the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria.

The tribe agreed to address impacts of the new Graton Resort and Casino. The money will address crime, traffic and other issues associated with the $800 million facility.

The city of Rohnert Park, where the casino is located, is expected to see more than $8 million in the first year of operation, The Petaluma Argus-Courier reported. But other communities in Sonoma County will benefit too -- at least $416,918 per year, the paper said.

The tribe made its first mitigation payment for the quarter that ended March 31, the paper said. The money can now be distributed to local communities.
