MGM Resorts International has launched a lobbying campaign to legalize Internet poker in New York even though supporters warn it could take years for it to happen.

MGM started a Facebook page and a Twitter account with one simple message: Let NY Play. The campaign notes that online poker is legal in neighboring New Jersey.

MGM, which owns half of a casino in Atlantic City, is considering a poker site in that state, an executive said. But revenues from online games haven't reached expectations.
