Lac du Flambeau Band signs deals for off-reservation casino

The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians signed two agreements for its proposed off-reservation casino in Shullsburg, Wisconsin.

The tribe signed an intergovernmental agreement and a development agreement with the city. The agreements set out the revenue sharing and other conditions for the $132 million project.

"While we're not at the finish line yet, I am very pleased with our government to government relationship," President Tom Maulson told The Lakeland Times.

Maulson expects the Bureau of Indian Affairs to release the draft environmental impact statement this summer. Public meetings were held last fall.
