Yakama Nation evacuated casino in response to bomb threat

The Yakama Nation of Washington reopened its casino on Tuesday after investigating and resolving a bomb threat.

Someone called in a threat after the Legends Casino opened on Tuesday morning. Workers soon found a suspicious pipe outside the facility.

About 600 patrons and 150 employees were evacuated and the tribe and federal authorities investigated. The pipe turned out to be harmless.

“The safety of the public is first and foremost,” Chairman Harry Smiskin told The Yakima Herald-Republic.
