Mashantucket Tribe working on casino deal in Massachusetts

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is still working on a host agreement for its proposed commercial casino in Massachusetts.

The tribe plans to build a $750 million casino on a 30-acre site in Fall River. Mayor Will Flanagan supports the project and said details of the host agreement should be available soon.

"We have the best of the best with Foxwoods,” Flanagan told The Fall River Herald News. “I’m very optimistic that pound for pound we will have the best application.”

The tribe is bidding on the southeastern part of the state. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is still accepting applications for the region.

There's no guarantee the license will be awarded because the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe gets first shot at the region. The tribe's $500 million First Light Resort and Casino awaits federal approval.
