The Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians in Oregon is on track to open a new Class II gaming facility in May 2015.

The tribe broke ground on the $5 million, 15,000 square-foot Three Rivers Casino Coos Bay in August. The facility will feature 250 electronic Class II games and will create 120 jobs.

“We’ve been talking about hiring more in range of 80 FTEs and we’ll probably have about 120 bodies on the premises,” Chairman Bob Garcia told The Coos Bay World.

The facility is being built on land already in trust. The site is less than 3 miles from the Mill Casino, a Class III facility owned by the Coquille Tribe.

Some tribes in Oregon explicitly agreed not to open a second casino under their Class III compacts. The restriction would not apply to a Class II facility.
