Mashantucket Tribe sets opening date for casino outlet mall

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut will open an outlet mall at its casino on May 21.

The 300,000-square-foot Tanger Outlets at the Foxwoods Resort Casino will feature more than 80 stores. The $120 million project has created 400 construction jobs and will employ more than 900 people.

To fill those jobs, Tanger Factory Outlet Centers is hosting a job fair at the casino on March 19. Full-time and part-time positions are available.

“We are proud of the employment opportunities that Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods Resort Casino is bringing to this community and are thrilled to be one step closer to opening this beautiful center in May,” David DelVecchio, the general manager of the mall, said in a a press release.

“We’re looking forward to an exciting 2015 with the opening of our new Tanger Outlets,” added Felix Rappaport, the president and CEO of Foxwoods.

The New London Day reviewed the casino's latest quarterly report. According to the paper, Tanger is paying the tribe a base rent plus a percentage of rents received from the mall tenants. Tanger is fully financing the construction of the mall, the paper said.
