A bill introduced in the Kansas House authorizes the state to take casino winnings from people who owe child support or back taxes.

The House Committee on Children and Seniors held a hearing on HB2269 yesterday. It would require the three state-owned casinos to work with the Department of Administration to monitor winnings of indebted persons, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported.

The bill, however, will not affect winnings at tribal casinos. "Nothing in this section shall apply to Native American tribal gaming facilities," it states.

The state Child Support Services estimates the bill could bring in an additional $157,000 a year for child support payments, the Capital-Journal reported.
