The Chehalis Tribe of Washington is embarking on a $40 million casino expansion project and one of its own is on the construction design team.

Joel Brown is a project engineer at Forma Construction, the company that's handling the expansion at the Lucky Eagle Casino. Design and pre-construction work took place last summer, South Sound Talk reported, and a groundbreaking is set for next month.

The tribe is adding 41,000 square-feet of gaming, food service and support spaces, 8,600 square-feet of administrative space and a 120,000 square-foot parking garage to the facility. The design features tribal design elements, South Sound Talk reported.

The entire project will last about 18 months. However, a new portion of the casino will be ready this fall, South Sound Talk reported.
