The Cowlitz Tribe of Washington and the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut live 3,000 miles apart but both remain united in a gaming partnership. The proposed Cowlitz Casino Resort is being financed by the Mohegans. The tribe plans to manage the facility for the first seven years of operation. "We would not be here at this point without them," Cowlitz Chairman Bill Iyall told The New London Day. According to the paper, the Mohegans have invested $40 million in the project, which remains mired in litigation. Both tribes believe the case will eventually be dismissed. "It's a horrible waste of taxpayers' resources," Iyall told The Day. "It should not delay the project." Get the Story:
