The Karuk Tribe and Siskiyou County in California have concluded arbitration proceedings for a gaming agreement.

The tribe and the county were at odds over a number of issues, namely the cost of law enforcement services at the casino. According to The Siskiyou Daily News, the county prevailed so the tribe must agree to the conditions selected by the arbitrator.

The tribe hopes to break ground on the $35 million casino this spring. Plans call for a 36,000 square-foot facility with 500 gaming machines, eight table games, a 100-seat restaurant and a parking area.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has allowed the tribe's Class III gaming compact to go into effect. The deal requires the tribe to enter into agreements with local governments.
