The Kalispel Tribe of Washington will be acquiring a country club and 18-hole golf course.

The tribe reached a last-minute deal to buy the Spokane Country Club for more than $3 million, The Spokesman-Review reported. The facility will serve as an amenity for patrons of the Northern Quest Resort and Casino.

The acquisition helps keep Northern Quest competitive with a potential casino from the Spokane Tribe. The 145-acre West Plains Mixed-Use Development includes a hotel and retail options but not a golf course.

The Kalispels oppose the Spokane casino, whose fate lies in the hands of Gov. Jay Inslee (D). He has veto authority under the two-part determination provisions of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
