The Tohono O'odham Nation of Arizona held a job fair on Sunday and Monday for its controversial new casino.

According to The Daily News-Sun, more than 3,000 people came to seek jobs at the West Valley Resort that's under construction in Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix. The facility is due to open in December.

"We are just overwhelmed,” Mary Mantia, the human resources director for Desert Diamond Casinos, told the paper.

The casino has faced significant opposition from the state and will only be offering Class II games pending the resolution of a lawsuit in federal court. About 500 people are expected to be hired by December.
