Police officers for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe in Minnesota arrested a man accused of kidnapping a woman from one of the tribe's casinos.

James Phillip Cowan, 37, is facing kidnapping, stalking, assault and drug possession charges. He was arrested at the Grand Casino Mille Lacs in Hinckley, The Brainerd Dispatch reported.

The incident began when Cowan allegedly threatened a woman and forced her to drive to a home in a county south of the casino. He then told her to drive to a different place but she instead drove back to the casino while he slept and alerted tribal police, the Dispatch reported.

Tribal officers found Cowan with a knife in the early morning hours on Sunday, the paper said. He was also found with methamphetamine.
