The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut announced plans to open a commercial casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.

The 781,000 square-foot Foxwoods Resort Casino at Biloxi Pointe will be located on a 23-acre site at Biloxi Pointe. The tribe and its partners are promising a $265 million investment that will include a casino, a hotel, meeting space and a variety of dining, retail and entertainment options.

“This is an exciting opportunity to not only expand geographic diversification for the Foxwoods brand, but also leverage our management expertise well beyond New England,” Chairman Rodney Butler said in a press release. The facility is tentatively scheduled to open in the spring of 2019.

Mississippi is home to more than 30 gaming facilities, including three owned by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
