The Tohono O'odham Nation of Arizona is making good on its gaming promises.

The tribe shared $1.2 million with the city of Glendale, according to news reports. The check represented the first of 20 years of annual payments that the tribe will make as part of an agreement for the Desert Diamond West Valley Casino and Resort.

The payments come even though the facility only features Class II machines. The Arizona Department of Gaming has refused to certify the casino under the Class III compact so the tribe isn't required to share revenues with the state at this point.

The tribe is suing the state in federal court in hopes of adding Class III devices to the casino. Regardless of the way the case turns out, the tribe made a change to the agreement with Glendale to ensure the city will benefit from hosting the facility.
