The Santee Sioux Tribe of Nebraska is preparing youth for careers in the Indian gaming and hospitality industries.

The tribe put 16 high school and college students to work at the Ohiya Casino for the summer, The Niobara Tribune reported. Their efforts were recognized at a ceremony at the facility earlier this month.

“These workers are young and refreshing and it has been a joy to work alongside them," manager Thelma Thomas said at the ceremony, the paper reported.

The students worked at the casino's gift shop, in maintenance and as service staff, the paper said.
