Quapaw Tribe starts own coffee brand to serve casino patrons

The tribe serves more than 2 million cups of coffee a year at the Downstream Casino Resort, its flagship gaming facility. So creating O-Gah-Pah Coffee was viewed as a logical step.

"We serve a whole lot of coffee in our restaurants, hotels, and in the casino," Chairman John Berrey said. "So it makes sense for us to take control of the whole process, both from a business standpoint as well as to provide the very best quality for our guests."

O-Gah-Pah -- which means "the downstream people," the name of the tribe in its own language -- will be served at Downstream and will be available for purchase at the casino's retail outlets. The tribe also plans to sell it at other outlets.
