Top BIA law enforcement official reassigned

The Bureau of Indian Affairs' top law enforcement official has been reassigned and replaced by a deputy, USA Today reports.

Officials would not say why Bob Ecoffey of the Office of Law Enforcement Serves was reassigned. It comes amid an investigation into deaths and substandard conditions at BIA detention facilities nationwide.

Walt Lamar, who had been acting head of OLES before Ecoffey's appointment, is now in charge of law enforcement.
