Democrats note importance of courting Indian vote

Attendees of the Democratic National Convention say the party owes a lot to Indian voters.
While American Indians and Alaska Natives make up just 1.5 percent of the general population, they have the power to sway elections in key states. New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona, Alaska and Montana are some of the places to watch.
"Without the Native Americans, I wouldn't be standing here today," Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano (D) told the Associated Press.
