Dispute threatens Navajo Boys and Girls Clubs
Friday, August 27, 2004
The Navajo Boys and Girls Club is in limbo due a dispute involving Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr.
The 14 clubs on the reservation are run by a non-profit. But Shirley proposed bringing them under the tribal government, saying the clubs would receive more money.
The non-profit opposes the idea but has been struggling for the funds. Shirley's office, on the other hand, says it has raised all the money needed to run the clubs.
