Domenici: Navajos 'out of touch' for Dem support

Navajo Nation leaders "are out of touch with reality" for supporting Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry, Sen. Pete Domenici (R-New Mexico) said on Saturday.
"They don't know that this administration has done more for Indian education than any administration in history," he said at a campaign rally featuring Vice President Dick Cheney.
"They don't know that this administration has done more for diabetes problems on the Navajo reservation than any administration in history," he continued. "Let's send a word to those leaders that they just don't get it."
The Navajo Nation Council voted 61-8 last week to endorse Kerry. Navajo President Joe Shirley Jr. personally endorsed Kerry and is one of the campaign's Native American advisers.
