Shootings at Indian housing complex tied to gangs
Tuesday, November 30, 2004

The shooting deaths of two men at an Indian housing complex appears to be gang related, The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Del Anthony Benjamin, 20, and Joseph Burns, 21, were killed at the Little Earth of United Tribes complex early Saturday morning. Both are members of an Indian gang, a police investigator said.

Activist Clyde Bellecourt says the shootings could be retaliation for a shooting that occurred on the Leech Lake Ojibwe Reservation. Gang activity on the reservation has taken the lives of several young people.

Police have arrested two men in connection with the deaths and are looking for a third suspect.
