Catawba Nation trying to sort out leadership dispute

The Catawba Nation of South Carolina is trying to resolve a leadership dispute that was taken to federal court.

A group of tribal members sued Chief Gilbert Blue in state court. They said elections weren't held regularly and wanted him out of office.

The group then sought to intervene in a federal lawsuit the tribe filed against the state regarding gaming. But the factions asked for the case to be dismissed while they work out their problems. A federal judge agreed and said the gaming suit could filed again in the future.
