Florida dedicates first sculpture in honor of tribes

The state of Florida dedicated a bronze sculpture of a Miccosukee family at the state capitol on Monday, the first of four that will honor the state's tribal heritage.
The Miccosukee Tribe contributed nearly $100,000 to build the life-sized "Movin' On" sculpture. It depicts a father, baby-carrying mother and daughter walking in single file to represent the tribe's forced removal from the northern part of the state to the Everglades.
The Seminole Tribe is financing the next statue that will be unveiled next year. The other two statues will depict Florida at the time of European colonization and pre-Columbian Florida.
