Hopi veterans upset Navajo Nation getting focus

Veterans of the Hopi Tribe of Arizona are upset that they are being left out of the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" television program.
The show is building a new home for the family of Lori Piestewa, the Hopi woman who was killed in action in Iraq. As a bonus, a new Navajo Nation veterans center is being built in Tuba City, a Navajo community where Piestewa lived.
But the focus on Navajos has Hopi veterans "very upset," a Hopi council member told The Arizona Republic. "Do Navajo veterans have the balls to accept a building built for a Hopi war hero?" said Clifford Quotsaquahu, who served in the Vietnam War.
The show tried to negotiate to build a center on the Hopi Reservation, where Lori is buried, according to producers. But there was little progress so the programed turned to the Navajo Nation.
The center is being dedicated today.
The new Piestewa home, under construction in Flagstaff, will be unveiled tomorrow. An estimated 5,000 people have flocked to see the site.
